About….
Meet Kat and Colby, a remarkable couple celebrating 22 years of marriage and parenting a loving family of 10 children. Their journey is a testament to their commitment to healing and empowering others. Certified in a therapeutic practice focused on aiding others overcoming trauma, Kat and Colby have dedicated their lives to making a positive impact.
Beyond their certification, the couple is deeply trauma-informed and educated, having not only housed dozens of survivors but also connected them with crucial resources, enabling them to reclaim their lives, break free from addiction, and secure meaningful employment in their desired fields using the gifts God has given them.
Their transformative approach began with the implementation of structured routines and consistency within their home. Recognizing the importance of stability for individuals in recovery or those who have experienced chaotic environments, Kat and Colby established systems that provided a sense of safety and belonging. These strategic routines not only helped manage stress but also facilitated a smooth transition for those preparing to re-enter the outside world.
In 2013, the couple made a life-changing decision to embrace a slower, more intentional lifestyle. Leaving demanding jobs – Colby as the Superintendent of the largest grocery store on the West Coast and Kat as a business owner with an interior design company and private tattoo studio – they sought a stress-free life.
This shift required financial discipline, prompting them to tighten spending and prioritize family time. The decision proved successful, allowing them to purchase a historic home in North Dakota that accommodated their growing family. Since their move to North Dakota, Kat and Colby have adopted four children, two of whom are thriving in their homeschooling environment.
Their commitment to student-led learning is a cornerstone of their family's success. Through shared adventures in education, they have developed practices that not only ensure academic growth but also nurture each child's unique interests and talents. All four adopted children, immersed in this lifestyle, are thriving and flourishing.
As their children reached adulthood, Kat and Colby opened their hearts and homes to become a Therapeutic Foster family, co-parenting numerous children with multiple diagnoses and behavioral challenges.
What started as a service evolved into a ministry through divine connections. Women and their children, facing various struggles, found refuge with Kat and Colby. With the support of their California community, these families stayed for weeks to months, gaining independence, freedom from addiction, and escaping abuse.
As superior mentors, Kat and Colby have been encouraged to share their practices with a broader audience. They launched a website and blog, offering insights on discovering passions and achieving goals – whether financial, relational, or spiritual. Their experiences have not only strengthened their marriage but also inspired countless others to follow their proven strategies for a more intentional and fulfilling life.
